swap received

Here's the mini quilt I received as part of the swap between the Modern Quilt Guild of Ireland and the Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild. Andi from our-epoch is the artist who made this amazing mini quilt. She found out I'm very fond of tea and made this tea set for me.

Aquest es el mini quilt que he rebut com a part de l'intercanvi de l'agrupacio de patchwork modern d'Irlanda i el d'Atlanta. L'Andi de our-epoch es l'artistassa que m'ha fet aquest quilt sobre te. Va investigar una mica el meu blog i va veure que soc fan del te.

I didn't know we would receive a quilt from the same person you made a quilt for... Had I known this I would have waited to post about my quilt for her until Andi received it. I'm not sure if she has yet, as it was sent early last week. My quilt is so simple compared to those of the rest of the participants, I'm really embarrassed... sorry Andi... :-( If you'd like to see the rest of the quilts you can click here.

No sabia que ens havien posat per parelles i que rebria un quilt de la mateixa persona a qui jo feia un. No estic segura de si l'Andi ha rebut el meu ja, el vaig enviar la setmana passada. espero que li agradi, tot i que es molt mes senzill que el seu i que de tota la resta de participants. em fa una mica de vergonya i tot... The fabric es great, I really like the printed letters of the cup.

La tela es molt maca, sobretot la de la tasa amb les lletres impreses.

The embroidery bit is very cleverly used, coming out of the spout...

El brodat esta fet molt astutament, com si fos fum que surt de la tetera i es llegeix "te"

The piecing is amazing, how many pieces has this little quilt!

La quantitat de trocets cosits per a cada detall es impressionant.

And on the label at the back, she even printed a lovely poem about tea...

I al darrera,  a l'etiqueta, hi ha impres un poema sobre te... tot un detall...

Andi, this is so nice. Thank you thank you very much. 

All the details on it are so well taken care of.

SWAP - INTERCANVI

This is the mini quilt I made for my swap partner from the Atlanta Modern Quilt Guild. She said she likes red and green and I love red, so I had plenty of that. The stripy fabric has tiny green dots that match the outer green border and I used red thread for the quilting. I hope she likes it...

La meva companya d'intercanvi va dir que li agradava el vermell i el verd, i com que a mi tambe m'agrada el vermell ja tenia molta tela d'aquest color. La tela ratllada te puntets verds que ja queden be amb la tela verda del marge. Ara espero que li agradi...

I used Flea Market Fancy for the binding and backing.

Now I only need to print a label and 

it will go all the way to Georgia.

I always think of peaches

when I hear Georgia...

I like quilting a straight line just outside the seam so it bulks out a bit,

but I quilted on the ditch for the outside of the star.

M'agrada fer l'encoixinat recta just a la vora de les costures

per fer resaltar mes les peces, pero a la part de fora

de l'estel l'he fet just a la vora.

Straight red lines to frame it and finished!

Linees rectes amb fil vermell per enmarcar-ho tot i acabat!

El vaig començar a fer l'any passat formant part del Quilt Along del Socpetit. Hem trigat una mica mes del previst en acabar-lo pero ja esta fet i crec que ha valgut molt la pena esperar! tots els quilts de la resta de participants son preciosos, ja podeu donar un cop d'ull al blog per anar veient com es van publicant els resultats a poc a poc.

I finally finished this sampler!

I started it a year ago as part of a quilt along with a group of Catalan bloggers. It took us a wee longer than expected to complete it as we're all working mothers (those that do not stay at home...). The rest of the participants have been finishing their quilts too and they'l be shown in this blog.

Vaig començar amb un Layer Cake de Park Avenue.

I used a Layer Cake of Park Avenue.

M'agrada molt l'efecte que fa el marge de retalls

I really like the scrappy outer frame.

com que no tenia prou tela pel darrere vaig afegir mes retallets

I added some strips of scraps to make the backing bigger, as I didn't have enough fabric

L'encoixinat no es perfecte, pero m'he llençat a la piscina provant coses noves

The quilting is not great, but I jumped onto trying new things

WONKY SQUARES - my first solids

This is my first quilt using Kona solids. A friend of mine ordered 

a baby quilt for her nephew, something very colorful and I suggested

a rainbow-like theme. I'm really happy with the result, and so she is too!

I hope the baby boy will like it too...

Aquest es el meu primer quilt fent servir colors llisos, Kona.

Una amiga em va encarregar fer un quilt per al seu nebot, alguna cosa amb 

molt de color i vaig suggerir l'arc de Sant Marti com a tema...

M'encanta el resultat i a ella tambe! ara espero que al petit tambe li agradi.

I didn't know how to quilt it, and I wanted the squares to stand out, 

so I decided to outline the squares by quilting around them at 1/8" from the seam.

The rhomboids are highlighted too and the outer frame gave way to play a bit more,

echoing the zig-zag lines worked out pretty well, I think.

No sabia com fer l'encoixinat i volia que els quadres ressaltessin, 

aixi que vaig optar per seguir els quadres a 1/8 de polzada de la vora.

Els romboides tambe resalten i el marge exterior es prou ample per 

jugar una mica mes, fent servir el zig-zag varies vegades.

I used an IKEA print for the backing, very colorful and fun.

Per al darrera he fet servir una tela de l'IKEA, 

molt divertida i plena de coloraines.

And like with  all my ordered baby quilts, it comes with its own bag...

I com amb tots els meus encarrecs de quilts per a nens, ve amb la seva bossa...

Doncs aqui esta, el primer quilt per al meu stock... La inspiracio em va venir d'aqui, i quines ganes que tinc de quedar-me'l! son els meus colors preferits, pero no... nomes espero que vagi a parar en bones mans. Avui el sol ha decidit sortir una mica (entre plujes i rafegues de vent gelat) i asseguda al sofa l'he pogut gaudir mentres acabava de cosir-hi la vora. Tambe he pogut sortir a fora i fer unes quantes fotos amb la llum de la tarda.

Here's my first quilt to add to my stock (I'm trying to build up stock for a craft fair). The inspiration came from here. I'd love to keep it, these are my favorite colours, but no... I just hope it will end in good hands. The sun was shining today, between showers and strong cold winds, and it was lovely to sit by the window feeling its heat while I was finishing the binding. I could also take a few shots with the nice evening light.

He cosit ric-rac vermell a les costures entre la tela blanca i l'estampada.

I sewed red ric-rac on the seams between the white fabric and the patterned one.

Per l'encoixinat, nomes vaig fer linees mig corves horitzontals.

The quilting is ver simple, just wonky horizontal lines.

Els dies ja comencen a allargar-se i m'encanta!

Sugar and Spice and something nice...

I bought some Sugar and Spice by Riley Blake in the summer to make another quilt for my daughter. I had been thinking what design to use and I had a couple in my mind (which I intend to do soon) and finally 2 weeks ago I saw something I really really liked. I have enough fabric to make to baby quilts and I'm almost finished with the first one. Here's a sneak pic before I reveal the first final product...

L'estiu passat vaig comprar tela de Sugar and Spice per fer-li un altre quilt a la meva filla. Havia estat pensant en el diseny i tenia dues idees (que les portare a cap), pero fa un parell de setmanes vaig trobar una que em va agradar moltissim. Tinc prou roba per fer dos quilts petits i un ja esta quasi acabat. Us deixo fer una ullada abans de revelar el producte final del primer...

Those words... sugar and spice... make me think of apple tart and I also discovered a new recipe that caught my eye. I have made this tart twice now and it is soooooo nice... you can translate using GoogleTranslate, plus the blog's author is fluent in English and wouldn't have a problem in helping you out. 

Do you have a recipe that you keep making over and over again? Would you share it?

Quan sento aquestes dues paraules juntes, sugar and spice (sucre i especies), em fa pensar en pastis de poma amb canyella. Fa poc que vaig descobrir aquesta recepta de la Merce de Cuina Per a Llaminers i ja es la segona vegada que la faig. Esta bonissima!

yarn and fabric - llana i tela

He començat a fer un gorro pel petit que ve de camí. L'estic fent amb 5 agulles i tot i que no segueixo cap patró m'estic inspirant en aquests que he vist aqui. M'encanta fer trenes, no sé si en català se'n diu així, en anglès se'n diu cables...

I've started to knit a hat for the little wee man that is on his way. I'm using 5 needles and although I'm not following any pattern in particular, I'm inspired by these ones. I love knitting cables!

Recordeu aquell Layer Cake Quilt Along que vaig començar l'any passat? doncs ja quasi estic acabant un dels dos quilts que tenia pendents. Ja va sent hora de treure'm coses de sobre per poder començar nous projectes per vendre!

Do you remember that Layer Cake Quilt Along I joined last year? Well I'm finishing one of the two quilts I started. It's time I finish them so I can start new projects for selling!

Julie's Quilt - El quilt de la Julie

Be, no son les millors fotos perque la llum no acompanyava gaire aquest mati, pero aqui teniu el resultat final. La Julie ha quedat moooolt contenta, i jo tambe!

They're probably not the best photos because the light was not great, but here's the final product! Julie was very pleased and so was I!

Fa 204cm x 267cm i aqui el veieu sobre el meu llit (que es mes gran que un llit doble)

It measures 80"x105" for a double sized bed (here's my bed which is King size)

L'encoixinat es senzill, seguint els quadres centrals per resaltar-los i un encoixinat lliure al marc del voltant.

Penso que seria un bon quilt per fer un encoixinat amb maquina de braç llarg...

The quilting is quite simple (as requested), following the straight lines in the centre to highlight the squares, and going free motion on the border. I think this quilt would be great for long arm quilting too...

L'etiqueta esta escrita a ma perque em vaig quedar sense tela imprimible!

I run out of printable fabric for the label, so I used my handwriting...

La propera comanda es un quilt per a un bebe, menys mal! rapid i facil, tot un plaer despres d'aquest!

My next order is a baby quilt, thank God! something quick and much easier! a treat after this...
