I finished Hana's pyjama bottoms and one of the tops!!! hooray!

I used this technique for the applique and it was lots of fun doing it. I'm going to make more projects using this way of aplique.

 I bought a pack of 4 tops (green, pink, yellow and white)

 and they all combined perfectly with the fabric

 I chose to do the silhouette of the elephant that appears in the print

He escollit fer dibuix de l'elefant que surt a l'estampat de la tela

Ja he acabat els pantalons de pijama de la Hana i una de les parts de dalt! per fi!

He fet servir aquesta tecnica per fer l'aplicat (a la inversa) i m'ho he passat molt be fent-ho. Fare mes aplicats seguint aquesta tecnica.

COUNTING STICKS - COMPTANT PALS

Aquesta es una activitat que es fa a Montessori per ensenyar la relacio entre el numeros i la quantitat. A minimanuals vaig trobar un enllac, del blog on et mostren com fer-te aquesta activitat. Es bastant barat, nomes necessiteu cartro per fer la base (jo l'he tret d'una caixa de bolquers), 10 rotllets de paper higienic, una impresora per imprimir els numeros i branquetes.

Recomanaria fer aquesta activitat quan els nens ja saben el nom dels numeros i reconeixen el seu simbol.

This is an activity from the Montessori method to teach the relation between the numbers and the quantity they refer to. Over at minimanuals I got the link from the blog where it shows you how to make this activity yourself. It's dead simple, you only need cardboard, toilet rolls, a printer and sticks.


I would recommend doing this activity once the children know the names of the numbers and can recognise their symbol.

FOTO FINISH: WHAT IS IT? / QUE ES?

This is my entry for Foto Finish this week. The theme is "What is it?"

It just started raining 5 minutes ago. These are rain drops racing each other on my window.

Fa cinc minuts que ha comec,at a ploure i aixo son gotes de pluja fent carreres a la finestra.

En Mic de TV3: Acabat!!!

Ara n'haure de fer un altre per la Hana... amb prou feines he pogut amagar-lo i embolicar-lo per enviar-lo al seu petit amo.
Now I'll have to make Hana one... I could barely manage to wrap it up and have it ready to send to my friend.

Fa moooolt de temps que una amiga em va demanar si podia fer el ninot d'en Mic per al seu fill. Jo no havia vist mai en Mic perque aqui no podiem veure TV3 (ara si!) i al final, entre videos de Youtube, fotos d'internet, mides que m'han passat de ninots ja fets, etc... he pogut fer la meva versio.
A long time ago, a friend asked me if I could make a soft toy that looked exactly like Mic, a popular Catalan TV character from a children's program. We can't watch TV3 (the Catalan TV channel) here, only the international Catalan TV and they don't shoe Mic. I had to rely on youtube videos and photos of other people's versions of this fella.

I made his head using the same pattern as the soft beach ball I made before

No he trigat gaire en fer-lo, un cop t'hi poses i comptes el temps que has dedicat, diria que els pots tenir en 3-4 hores... pero es que no trobava la tela ni els colors que volia. Despres no trobava el moment adient i els dies anaven passant i passant. Vaig fer esquemes i patrons sobre paper despres de mirar-me els videos, pero es que son tan curtets!!!
It's not thatdifficult once you've got the patterns and the fabric. But it took me a while to find the right colour. I chose terrycloth so I can hide the seams well. I made drawings and drawings until I was happy with the pattern.

Al final vaig trobar tela de tovallola a una parada del Mercat de Sant Antoni, a Barcelona. Vaig agafar un metre de cada (va a 14 eur el metre) i  aixi em sobrara molta tela per poder fer-li un barnus a la Hana (encara esta per fer aquest...)
I bought the terrycloth on my last visit to my hometown, Barcelona, in a Market called Sant Antoni. I got lots of colours having in mind to make a bathrobe for Hana (which I haven't started yet...)

Vaig tenir sort de poder trobar un taronja suau, i el verd i el groc tambe hi anaven perfectes, i ja que estava posada vaig comprar vermell i blau, pel barnus. El grana del nas l'he tret d'una tovalloleta d'un pack que vaig comprar i el blanc dels ulls es d'una altra tovalloleta que tenia (d'aquells packs que venen a l'Ikea).
I was lucky with the orange, it's not too bright and I think it quite matches the original colour. For the nose, I used a face cloth that I found in Penneys (the Irish "Primark" store), and the white is from a pack of face cloths from IKEA.

Per farcir-lo he fet servir el farcit de boata d'un coixi vell que tenia (els guardo per poder fer coses aixi), i els botons pels ulls es el que mes m'ha costat de trobar. Encara no estic satisfeta pero potser aquesta mama que rebra en Mic en podra trobar de millors (espero...).
I used an old pillow's polyester filling for his filling. The eyes are not the best match, but I could not find anything better. I'm sure my friend will find better buttons if she wishes.

This is my entry for Foto Finish. The theme is "macro" and I thought it would be good to try and catch a closer look of Lola's feathers. It probably would have been easier to take a photo of something static, like a flower, but I wanted something more challenging, and this little red hen is a busy character, especially when she's hanging around with her fellow hen Matilda...

Hagues sigut mes facil fer una foto d'alguna cosa mes estatica, com una flor, pero volia alguna cosa mes dificil i aquesta gallina no para quieta, sobretot quan segueix a la seva companya Matilda...

Here's the card I received from Heather at HKPowerstudio in the USA.  It is a printed heart on fabric and there are tiny beads stitched all over. It looks amazing and she will soon reveal how to make those stitches, so keep an eye on her blog if you want to know how to do it!

Aquesta es la postal que vaig rebre de la Heather de HKPowerstudio als EEUU. Es la foto d'un cor impres sobre roba i ha cosit tot de boletes a sobre. No se quina tecnica ha utilitzat pero aviat revelara el secret al seu blog, si voleu aprendre com es fa aneu a donar un cop d'ull!

The card I made is this one and it went to Susan from SVM-travels, in the USA as well. I decided to make something a bit different, so it is a three sided heart that you can hang up like a mobile.  I will show you how to do it too. She seems pleased with it, so I'm happy! Susan is a great knitter, you should have a look around her blog and see the nice stuff she makes, among other cool things too.

La postal que jo vaig fer es aquesta i aviat tambe us ensenyare com es fa. Va viatjar cap al EEUU, a casa de la Susan de SVM-travels. Vaig fer un cor de tres cares que es pot penjar com un mobil. Sembla que li va agradar, aixi que estic contenta!
