The Bloggers' Quilt Festival: Spring 2011 is on. Hundreds of bloggers are showing one of their quilts and telling the story behind it. This is the quilt I'd like to present:
I made it last summer, for my daughter.
We moved into a new home and I wanted to make something new for her room.
I used a charm pack of Arcade with a beige sashing and Little Woodlands for the backing.
She used it for her naps, and now she likes siting on it while she's playing.
Now this cot is a toddler's bed, and I'm afraid I'll have to make a new one.
I remember making this quilt top in one afternoon, but the basting took a bit longer. It was the first time I would bast and although it is a small one my knees were really sore...
I did the quilting with the walking foot I had recently bought. I sew straight lines along the borders of the sashing straps and a zig-zag on the Arcade fabric straps.
I love the colours of this quilt and I think it really matches with my little girl's personality, lively and bright.
Love this quilt. And I did the same thing for my daughter when we moved into our new home last year. It is the quilt I've entered for the Bloggers Quilt Festival. I hope both your daughter and mine will enjoy years of use.
